The “Doerner Fir” (formerly called "Brummit Fir") is the world’s tallest known Douglas-fir. It was recently measured at 327 ft (99.7 m) tall and 11.5 ft (3.5 m) in diameter, and is located on BLM land in Coos County, Oregon.
Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziessii) is the state tree of Oregon. The Doerner Fir is officially registered as the state's "Big Tree Champion" of the species, but it's also the largest tree of any species in Oregon.
Darryl "captured" this magnificent tree in late December, 2009. Five separate photos were seamlessly stitched together, and the result is a breathtaking, tack sharp image -- the first of its kind of the champion fir.
